What is Vibration Training? |
Thursday, December 16, 2010 |
For those of you that are not familiar with Vibration Technology (also known as Whole Body Vibration Therapy) I would like to briefly discuss where it came from and what it is.
Believe it or not this technology has been around since the early 1960’s when Russian Cosmonauts discovered that it could be used to reduce the loss of muscle and bone density while in space. This gave Russian cosmonauts the ability to remain in space longer and years later the technology has found its way into rehabilitation centers, sports clinics and fitness facilities. The concept is popular in Europe and is just beginning to become common in North America.
The basic principle behind the technology is that you can achieve close to 100% muscle recruitment as opposed to the 40% with conventional strength training, thus reducing the workout time significantly. Studies have shown that 15 minutes of vibration training can be compared to 60 minutes of conventional strength training. Personally I used to spend hours every week in the gym lifting weights and never saw the strength advancements like I do with these machines in less then a quarter of the time. The following testimonial from one of our members says it all: “After about 4-6 weeks using the equipment at Vibes, I’ve noticed definition in my shoulders and arms and have lost inches on my stomach, hips and thighs. I have reduced my workout time but continued to make significant physical gains.” - M.R
Now for those of you thinking that you can just stand on the machine and get great results I’m going to have to have to stop you there! The technology is only this effective when the accurate muscle groups are targeted. Which means that you need to get in and out of different positions throughout the 15 minutes to isolate those muscle groups. So a typical workout at Vibes would consist of similar exercises to a regular strength training routine (push ups, squats, planks, etc) under supervision of a professional trainer to ensure proper form.
Hopefully this gave you a bit of a glimpse into this revolutionary technology! Check back next week to learn more!

Since this is my first blog entry I thought it would be appropriate to introduce myself and the blog! My name is Jessica Cruise and at age 21 I opened Vibes Fitness in Victoria, BC. Vibes Fitness is a unique fitness studio where we combine personal training with Vibration Technology. After seeing such amazing results in my own fitness level using the technology, I was inspired to open the business in January of 2009.
As Vibration Technology is a relatively new concept for many of you, my vision for this blog is to provide you with insight into the technology and its many benefits. As North America gets better acquainted with Vibration Technology, this blog will sift through the newest academic research and other reputable sources to determine fact from fiction and ensure that you know the truth about the benefits of this exciting new technology. In addition to this research, I will share some of the many inspirational stories that I have witnessed while working at Vibes.
Prepare to be amazed! |

| I have been with Vibes Fitness for over a year now and find this to be the best timely fitness workout ever. Whether it be a drop in or a booked appointment, Jessica and her personal fitness trained staff at Vibes Fitness will give you the best 15 minute full body workout. No need to put time aside for the 1hour work out at a conventional gym anymore. The results are fantastic as it is a great strength training and full body toning workout in one.
The body you want in the time that you have is there motto. I can agree with that 100%. |
